I just got this book called, "What to expect when you are expecting." Anyways, in the book it says this: this first month is approx. 1 to 4 weeks (i understand that) , the 2nd month is 5 to 8 weeks, the 3rd month is approx. 9 to 13 weeks, and the 4th month is 14 to 17 weeks. So I am currently 13wks does this mean next week i'll be in my 4th month?? I always thought once you turned 12 weeks you were just entering your 3rd month. Please help I am so confused!!!! Thanks.

It's very confusing. The problem is, they start counting your weeks before you even get pregnant. They start counting at the first day of your last period. So that's week 1. Then week 2 is the week after your period. (You're not even pregnant at this point yet!) Week 3 is when you actually concieve and week 4 the baby is really only at week 1. It's kind of stupid, really. Also, pregnancy really lasts for 40 weeks (ideally), which is almost 10 months, so you can't divide 10 months into 3 month intervals so some people break it up by making the first trimester last longer. I always just say "I'm _ weeks" instead of months, it makes it easier! Hope I helped! Good luck!

yes you should calculate your months as four weeks you should be three months pregnant if you are 12 weeks. don't try to worry about it to much any way your doctor will most likely change your due date anyway and I remember telling people I was 26 weeks pregnant when I was only 24 weeks cause the doctor determine different after my ultrasound so it is all estimated anyways if you tell people and you are off by a few weeks no big deal. wait until you get 38 weeks and nobody remembers your due date anyway. every body asks me " no baby yet" or weren't you suppose to have that baby already" It gets very annoying you will see. I wish you luck and enjoy being pregnant it goes by fast if you enjoy it. take care.

The first 2 weeks is when the egg travels down your tubes. The egg becomes fertilised at approx 2 weeks. At 14 weeks you are in the beginning of your 4th month. when pregnant they tend to class every 4 week as one mth. so effectively your pregnant for 10mth

It depends on how you count your weeks, there are so many variations that's it hard to keep up. That book counts lunar months, so by their calculations you'd be entering your fourth month. Personally I think it's all a bunch of crock....but that's just me. I never focused on how many weeks in a month, I'm due May 28th, so on the 28th of ever month I change months, in my opinion (take it for what it's worth) I will be three months on Nov. 28th, that way I know every month when I'm changing. It's easier for me and makes more sense. Congrats, sounds like we're right on the same time line :)

you are technically preggo for 10 months, so the book must be going by that range in weeks

the traditional 9 months is like this:
4wks=1mnth
8wks=2
12wks=3
16=4
20=5
24=6
30=7
34=8
38=9

its actually supposed to be 40 wks but since you go by your last period to add 2 weeks to 38wks because that's when you most likely ovulated.

You are 4 months in lunar months and 3 months in calander months Lunar months is 40 weeks which is actually 10 calander months dont worry you arent actually pregnant for 10 months because the first two weeks from the begining of your pregnancy you arent actually pregnant.

Let it go, It won't matter after a while anyway...so don't sweat it. Just keep up with your weeks for your own self, and when someone asks how far along you are just give them the nearest month. You don't have to be exact, they won't remember what you said when they ask you again next month.
