Well you could say elders have earned the right to be inconsiderate and cranky but then you could also say kids are too young to know any better and many young people are good hearted and are tolerant of their rude elders. The young get a bad press because the media chose to demonize them and elders always seem to be protesting for more money which has to come from the taxes of the young. I like the story of the holy man wending his way throught he market place with his disciples in train and a huge oafish fellow comes barging through the crowd and the Master stands aside to let him go past. The disciples are indignant that such a spiritual leader has had to avoid a rude and disrespectful person. He tells them, "But suppose it was a God in disguise, what then of my vanity that he should give way to me?" It costs nothing to be polite and that applies to young - who need to be shown - or elders who should know better!

Personally I don't expect respect... I work on the principle of earning it. (And I'm a B. OLD. F) The problem lies with generalising and unfortunately the press... we often hear and read so much about 'Hoodies' 'Base Ball Caps' and the like in a bad light, but never hear about the good things that kids & teenagers do... hence why we start with a preconcieved believe that they are bad. There is a counter argument to this.. if the kids and teenagers on the street actually stopped swearing and behaved sociably.. then maybe we wouldn't be so harsh in the way we think about them.

they only really know what they read in the papers.Things are a lot different now so i can understand why they get confused and have a dim view on the world. It is nice to hear you have brought your son up to be respectful towards his elders, hopefully he is the same when he's not with you.Alot of kids can be rude, and often some don't realise that what is normal to then can appear as rude to someone of a different generation.eg.kid on a bus shouts'where the fuc* have you been?' to his mate.to an old person this can be percieved as rude or aggressive.

WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING!? respect is a 2 way highway, if all of us in contact keeps to disrespect the different because the different disrespects them, neither get mutually receives what they pick. So initiate respecting them, provide up screaming about them on-line, provide up telling human beings to close up, and in various of circumstances be well mannered. the actual incontrovertible actuality that something isn't a regulation does no longer advise you ought to bypass ahead and do it, smoking, severe ingesting, and having diverse uncommitted sexual companions are all legal, yet especially inadvisable activities. Now respect others and also you;ll get respect decrease back, I assure it(it has worked for each human being i comprehend).
