I've been trying to find a dandelion tattoo design that isn't lame looking. I don't want it to look like a photograph of a dandelion nor too cartoonish I just want an artistic (not so you can't tell what it is though) rendering of a dandelion. One that has the green leaves off the stem and possibly a bit of the leaves that are at the base of it. Yet for some reason I can't find more than one or two designs online I only find stories behind why someone got a dandelion. I also would like to some how incororporate a fishing harbor into the design (I grew up in Sitka, Alaska and lived on a boat in a fishing harbor). So if anyone has a site that might be able to help me out in this design thanks a lot!

I found it tough to find any good dandelion pictures.

This is the best I could come up with. Speak with your tattoo artist. They can usually draw your tattoo once they know what you are looking for. They usually need to be drawn in a specific manner for a tattoo. The tattoo artist knows how the inks spread and they know the best placement of lines and such.

Here's a link to my favorite dandelion reference picture: http://www.tealand.com/images/Dandelion_OL.jpg

There are no leaves, but those can always be drawn.

I hope you end up with something you love! Good luck!

Most good tattoo artists will draw a custom design for you. Go to several studios, check out the artists portfolios, and when you find someone who's style you like, ask them if they will do custom work for you. Try to take some basic examples of what you want with you. If they don't want to work with you, stay away from that studio. Be prepared to compensate the artist for their time. Some will charge up front for custom designs, others will add it into the price of the tattoo. If you like what they have done, leave a fat tip!
Take the time to find someone that comes up with a design that moves you. You want an artist and not just a copy machine.

Ok what you just said, you need to tell that to the tat artist. Look at several different artists portfolios of their work. Get different prices and once you find someone that you click with and you can go further and have them draw it up. If they are an awesome artist then they will hit the nail right on the head for your description. You can also contact tat shops and look at their flash maybe they can direct you to someone that specializes in what your looking for. Good Luck. It is an addicting habit!

Why not get the 2 combined? Go into your best local artist and tell them what you want in the tattoo, and they can draw up some ideas for you. you could get something like a sugar skull beering into a treasure chest filled with pearls and gold with an anchor next to it or something.... Not that exactly but Im sure a good artist will come up with something amazing! Good luck!

Just find a good tattoo place, and ask them. If the people there are real artists, they will be able to take your idea and draw something to your liking.

The best thing for you to do is actually go to the tat parlor & tell them what you want. These guys are artists too, so they should be able to design what you want.

Yahoo image search is awesome for finding pictures. See your tattoo artist so he can make a drawing for you from your selected image(s).

draw the design yourself then you will be happy with it.that's what I did for mine.:) most tattoo studio's will be happy to oblige and you may even get a reduced rate for your tattoo if they can use on others, i did.
