I almost never call my aunt b/c she is usually very negative and never has anything nice to say. When I do something right or good, she'll find someway to rain on my parade.
So hopefully you're not too tuff on them, judgemental or too negative. people dont like negative energy.
have you ever tried to call them and ask them "hey kids why dont you call me? Did I do something wrong?"
You should try and keep the communication open.
Or maybe they're really busy in their lives, but you need to make it aware that you feel neglected.

Talk to them and tell them how much you really miss them and would like to spend some quality time together. If you split up from their mum, they are struggling with the split aswel. It will be easier to talk to their mum or whoever looks after them, cause he/she/they are responsible for your children. You can't lose the spark. You sort this out so they know that you still love them.

You shouldn't even wait or expect them to call you if they don't live with you. You or a whole army couldn't stop me from calling or seeing my children everyday.

not to be mean.. but if you call them ALL THE TIME they won't call you.... my mom call my brother ALL THE TIME!! and they get annoy for that and they don't pick up the phone or call her.....

if they are avoiding u, then do be away from them but talk to them and clearfy what is it all about
