new boss , doesn't know what's required on th e outside of her job just knows what she wants done and in what time it should be done. It is impossible to get the job done in the time she wants it done. Plus no over-time, which was all the time if a dead-line was required.

Well she is the boss. Try hard to get the next dead-line then if you have to have a talk with her to let her know that she is being unreasonable have the talk. Be calm and civil. Good luck.

Wow, sounds like I know who the person you are working for.

These people don't change and the best answer unfortunately like some people upstairs have said, is to work for someone else. But I will try to give you some useful tips.

* When you give her an estimate, take your worst case scenario and DOUBLE it. If she questions it, tell her ANY book on scheduling and estimation will tell you to add a "fudge factor"

* Drown her in memos and emails. Break a project down in what you are going to do each day. Email that to her. At the end of the day, send another email that says, PER our AGREED on schedule here are the things I accomplished today....

* Break your estimates into tiny steps and include the time it will require for each step.

* If she is not responding to any of this, you are just going to have to try to get through her thick head. Tell her, "look I CANNOT do XXX in yyy amount of time. Nobody can. If you really MUST have it done by yyy then I can do it but it will not include a, b, and c."

* Keep track of your estimates vs. the time it actually took. You will become a better estimator, not that THIS person may care, but it will help your career.

Time to start looking for a new job. It's just a job. It's not worth that much aggravation.
