You need LCM to do the merest math, which is needed in all the sciences. You cannot do chemistry, biology, physics, geology, astronomy, meteorology, or any science without knowing LCM.

I just used it yesterday in converting a recipe that was in ounces and tsps, to a batch recipe that was in parts. (I had to find the LCM of ounces and teaspoons!)

When we want to add fractons for something, duh!
Complicated math is usually only taught to develop reasoning.
