i know the queen can go only until there is a person in its way but can a queen go like 4-5 spots & still capture someone???

A queen can move as many spaces as it want sin every direction. So in a sense, yes it can! Until someone captures it that is.

The queen can go as far as it takes to take the place of an opposing players piece or hits the end of the board. Once you take an opposing piece or hit the end of the board your turn is over.

The movement of the queen is limted by what's in front of her, and if your king is in check, and if by moving, or capturing a piece causing the king to be in check or not.
