My friend also has a PSP and when he scans for wireless internet connections several show up is it ok if we use those connections even if we don't know whose they are. We have tried to access them before with the psp and some of them work but some of them dont.

okay, people are morons. if the network is open, use it. you won't get a virus. it's the same as plugging into a modem. if people don't want you to use their network, they can password protect it. if you crack the network, then you are doing something illegal... just sit in front of starbucks...

Just like Shawn B said " If the network is open use it." The only time it is illegal to use is when you crack someones password to get on. If people are too ignorant to password protect their network, by all means go ahead and use it.

It could be a nuisance to the person whom you are borrowing the band width from, but it's not like you're going to get arrested. Everybody's doing it all the time, more so than stealing cable or software piracy.

yes and no. If the signal is meant for public use (Starbucks, etc) no problem, if it is not then there is a problem, however if people don't encrypt their signals, I figure they must not care. Legally speaking though. It is illegal to hijack a persons signal.

It is not illegal. If they wanted to restrict users they would block the signal. Consider yourself lucky that you live somewhere with so man free signals.
