On cordless tools, due to the prohibitive price of replacement batteries, I moved away from Hilti, Makita and Hitachi some years ago and have been very most satisfied with Ryobi ever since.
For mains drills, Metabo; other tools, Bosch.

Kawasaki has entered the power tool market with some interesting offers at a great every day value. They include saws drills and a few of the usual suspects. For an everyday user they should be fine but contractor grade power tools are rarely discounted. Spend the money if you plan on using them a while. I personally would only purchase Craftsman but I have had an ongoing love affair with my Black & Decker Cordless drill. Be sure the tools are comfortable and fit your personal use.

It depends on what you are using them for, If you are a construction worker than no there is no alternative to the tools with proven durability. If you are not using this tool all day every day you can find a few good tools for home owners. Craftsman makes a good one and is pretty inexpensive. Also Ryobi is a pretty good one. Really it all depends on what you need it for.
good luck

try harborfrieght.com. They have an on line catalog with all sorts of tools and equipment. I use their tools for home projects, as they are not long lasting or pricey as a makita or dewalt.

It's hard to beat a DeWalt or a Makita, but Porter Cable Craftsman, and even Black and Decker make a pretty good tool depending on what its going to be used for.

check your local lowes or home depot for hitachi, ryobi or possibly black and decker (any good hardware store really)...also, you can find a worker at lowes or home depot that could tell you which tools are comparable and are in your price range. check out www.lowes.com or www.homedepot.com too. as with ANYpower tools, they'll last longer and perform as well as some of the really expensive ones if you take good care of them.
