No body=Not dead
It's a plot device that's been used repeatedly (ie Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time).
More than likely Dumbledore will also not be dead. For awhile I thought he might stay dead but my boyfriend pointed out some things to me.
1. Dumbledore makes it very clear to Harry that Voldemort is frightened of Dumbledore and will not come out of hiding himself until Dumbledore is gone. While he has sent his death-eaters out openly now, he himself has not been out of hiding.
2. Snape is the only person who can block his thoughts from Voldemort. Conveniently Snape was the one who killed Dumbledore (making it safe for Voldemort to come out of hiding) and is now hiding out with Voldemort. Recall that Snape played double agent the first time around.
They'll both be back.
Harry's parents however are not coming back ~17 years after their deaths. I know we all want Harry to be happy but he can be with Sirius when he comes back, give it up folks.

Yes, he's dead. Both Dumbledore and Nearly Headless Nick made that clear to Harry, so JKR has NOT left this open-ended. There's a very good reason why he had to be written out (with no possibility of a return), but that won't become clear until book 7.

My god, I was thinking the exact same thing! I don't think he's dead though. And I think that Harry should have used the time-turner to go back and save him (it worked with Buckbeak). I think he fell in another dimension too. Like in the book, if Harry's wondering about something then most likely we're wondering about it too and J.K rowling has some one like Dumbledore or Hagrid or Mr. Weasley explain to Harry the reasoning behind something. But she didn't do that with the Sirus Black thing. I do think he's still alive. But I could be wrong. :)

I really don't know? He was a very good character and was very nice, loyal, and risk taking!! If I was there I would cry and cry if I swall that happened 😭. In the movie I started to cry when he died😭😭. I don't know if he died or not but I hope he didn't die. If I was there I would look at the girl that hurt Sirius and smack, punch, and beat her to death. I really hate her she is my least favorite character. I don't even like her one bit. Ick😒

I do think he's dead, but I still feel that he will reach out in some way to Harry in the last book. I can't wait.

hmmm...I don't know for sure, obviously, but here's some interesting information said by JKR herself: The mirror SIrius gave Harry will be used in the 7th book. However, with everything else that's supposed to happen in book 7, i dunno how JKR can possibly work Sirius' "resurrection" into the plot....

I don't know about him, but I'm sure Dumbledore is still alive, and that Snape is still on the good side.
