My friend, who's also my coworker, left work at noon to drive home to her parents house for Thanksgiving. They live 10 hours away. My boss' wife kept telling her over and over again to drive safely and be careful. My friend said, "Don't worry about me... it's the other drivers I need to worry about." Then the boss' wife left and I said to my friend, "What was that all about? Did she have a bad dream or something?"
My friend just called us at work and she was in a bad accident. Someone cut her off as she was driving, she went off the side of the road down an incline, and her car flipped over. She said she's okay but her car is totalled. I feel so horrible! Instead of telling her to have a safe drive, I poked fun at my boss' wife for telling her to be careful! Did I jinx her? Is that possible?

As with most things 'magical', a basic study of physics should be required when dealing with the paranormal realm. This is because '2+2=4' exists fundamentally at all levels. In other words, yes, you can 'jinx' someone, but only to the 'strength' and duration at which you send it. Its like punching a door: the mark you leave (if any) depends on the amount of power you generate and where you generate it at. A stray 'remark' is akin to a quick puff of air against a wall, easily dispersed. It sounds, instead, like the wife had a premonition that something 'bad' was going to happen (yes, you CAN feel it coming), but her 'voicing' her concern was enough of a 'wedge' that the accident was not fatal. Your insensitivity had nothing at all to do with it, since both your co-worker and the wife were gone when you made the remark. So, no, you didn't jinx anyone.

Hi! My nickname is Jinx. Gave myself that nickname years ago because I really believed that I jinxed people. No, you are not a jinx. Trust me! Whatever happens to people around you is their destiny in life. After taking the name Jinx, I stopped worrying about others and you know what, that name Jinx became a good-luck name for me. You might be surprised at some of the good that comes out of bad things. Life's Destiny!

My best friend from when i was little nickednamed me the jinx because whenever her dad picked me up to stay over night one of their vehicles broke down. on Dec 31 1999 she died in a car accident. I do not belive that you are jinxing anyone, the bosses wife might have had a premonition.and by asking her to be careful made her more aware of the roads that day, possably saving her life. But you are not responsible.

No, you didn't jinx her - it was the driver's fault. You told her to be careful, right? How is that a jinx? Life happens, and we have to pick up the pieces.
Repeat after me: There are no such things as jinxes.

No. Jinxing someone is impossible and illogical. Don't worry about it. It's a coincidence. It's a good thing your co-worker isn't hurt.

You didn't jinx her, don't worry!
I don't believe in jinxing, but I do believe in putting bad karma on yourself and others - intentionally and unintentionally.

Superstition. Jonah was a bible story to get a point across and wasn't intended to be taken literally.
