Any ideas? Here's mine. Space exploration. A lot of prejudice is born of a small concept of space and time. But when you realize how old the universe is, you realize how little time HUMANITY has had to get its crap together. When you realize how big the universe is, you realize we're very, very alone, and other HUMAN BEINGS are all we've got. Race gives way to species, and species gives way to Earthlings. Carl Sagan knew it when he took a picture of Earth from millions of miles away and called it a "pale, blue dot." Science has value beyond fighting diseases and building weapons.

I think you may be on to something there!!! I read a post this morning in which the author speculates that we won't come together until we realize we aren't alone in the universe. I buy that.
However, I look at prejudice as an evolutionary tool. Prejudice helps us avoid potential harm or identify things (people, places, food, etc.) that are safe and helpful. Now when and why we developed prejudices against other humans (in terms of race, color, religion and the like) I couldn't begin to imagine, but I like to think most of us can agree that it was a pretty bad move.
You're a breath of fresh air. Thanks.

i don't agree. showing people how little and insignificant they are, in the grand scheme of things, will only make them feel the need to reasure themselves that they are mre important that you make them out to be, which would result in more important than others, and increased prejudice.
sadly, i don't think there's any way to stop prejudice once it's in place. you can force it underground, at most. what you can do, is stop it before it becomes too settled in - in children.
children are usually open minded enough to look at things from other perspectives, and reconsider their opinions. if you can show a child that something is based on just prejudice, and if you can show them that prejudice is wrong, they will probably believe you and even though there may not be an immediate change in the child, the seed of doubt is planted, and sooner or later, it will lead to fruit. children are wonderful that way.

I don't think prejudice can be ended. We are not born prejudice, it is a learned action. A person becomes prejudice from listing to relatives, friends, actually anyone the person is around while growing up. Anything can influence our thinking and judgment. As long as there are human beings there will be prejudice.

well i think that prejudice will always be around. Everyone is prejudiced, when a guy wants a girl and he meets an ugly one he doesn't like her but a if a pretty lady walks by he starts talking alot you can not have a world w/o prejudice it is everywhere.

We are the superior species that exists on that "pale blue dot"
But we are a diversified specimen of life. Hatred is the opposite of love they fall hand in hand... so can we end prejudice....not in this life...

I think by the time we've ended prejudice, we'll have also put an end to the gag-inducing sentimentality that you've just displayed.
