I think it's normal to feel discouraged when you recognize a discrepancy between your "real" self and your "ideal" self. However, I like that you're trying to stretch yourself and challenge yourself to become the person that you want to be. Although it's difficult to push yourself in this way, I believe it's a great way to build character and to really figure out who you are and who you'd like to be. Good luck on your journey!

You can feel happy if you want to; being happy is a choice, not some end zone that comes as a result of things. You don't have to feel inadequate, either. Just be aware that you are one of the lucky ones who has actually started the journey, and the length of the journey is not a negative at all. There is so much beauty in what you have planned, but don't negate who you are now. You are exactly the way you are supposed to be right now, and the person you are now is the same person who will get you to where you want to be. So give youself some credit and approval. I already have.

We are not "supposed" to feel happy hun. It is one goal we can set for ourselves, but its not going to just happen. I understand that you feel you are not living up to your own ideals of yourself. First, have you set them to high for right now. Can you break them down into smaller, more manageable goals that will not overwhelm you. Are you rewarding yourself for positive improvement? Good Luck in your journey.

Keep your head up. Study yourself, and point out your mistakes and good choices. This will help you out in finding out who you are.
