possibly "mein Kampf". not saying it was a GOOD book, im saying it was influential. hey, it was the cause of thousands (maybe more) of deaths.

The fairy tale collection by the Brothers Grim. Every American and probably European child has heard some of their stories which was basically a written collection of verbal short stories of the time. Their stories include Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Cap (Little Red Riding Hood), Cinderella, Snow White and Rumpelstiltskin.

I think that it's hard to find a text that reflects the same way on all cultures who read it, and that the texts themselves change with those who recieve them. However, one of the most cited bo0dies of work would probably be Plato. Some people stress Aristotle, but he wasn't available to very many at all until the mid-medieval period.
