Sorry to be a bit morbid but I know we can all be shocked/surprised/moved by a celebrity's death almost as if we knew them sometimes. So which celebrity's death has had the biggest effect on you and how/why?

I remember being really shocked and sad when Dermot Morgan (Father Ted) died so suddenly. And I will always mourn Freddie Mercury a little bit as Queen songs seem to have attached themselves to quite a few memories from my childhood.

*hanging my head in shame* Call myself a Monty Python fan and I forget to mention Graham Chapman! I was only about 15 when he died and had never heard of Monty Python then so his death didn't register at the time but I definitely miss him now!

I cried the day Christopher Reeve became paralyzed from his horseback riding injury. Growing up, I always saw my Dad as Superman. We watched all of the movies together, and he even resembled Christopher Reeve. When Christopher Reeve died not too long ago, I got that same feeling I had years ago when he was injured. I wasn't really a "fan" of his, but he played a role that will always remind me of my Dad.

I was really sad to hear that John Lennon had died when I was younger as I thought that one day I would see him and I didn't quite understand(because of my age)why he had died.
I also remember when Dermot Morgan died and what was a shock to me was the fact that he was still in full flow of his filming for the series and it was a sudden death.Whenever a celebrity has suddenly died it has made an impact on me because you take it for granted that they will still be around to entertain you or be in the limelight.I was just as shocked by Princess Di's death because it had such an impact on everybody,it was like everything stopping so that you could mourn. This doesn't mean I didn't feel any less for celebrities like Freddy Mercury,Chistopher Reeves or George Best it's just that I was more prepared in the sense that they were in a situation where they would inevitably pass away earlier than if they were of full health.

Dermot Morgan, Lady Di & Freddie Mercury were sad & I was moved by all 3. But the one that really shocked & saddened me was David 'Rocky' Rocastle - an ex Arsenal player. He died in 2001 at the age of 33 from cancer, leaving behind a wife & young family.

I remember him fondly gracing the midfield for Arsenal & was shocked when he was eventually sold by the club. I believe he cried the day he left Arsenal.

RIP, my friend

Good question btw

River Phoenix's death was really harsh because he was such an amazing actor and a really good musician u just knew he had so much more to give. Princess Diana's death really shook me up to but i suppose that effected an entire nation.

Steve Irwin

I'm sure we all expected a croc or cobra or some other dangerous animal would result in serious injury or death...but a stingray?

It's the same feeling if we would have heard he slipped on some oil crossing the street and fell. It was such a shock, and still is.

GEORGE BEST. When this man died, I was mortified. I have never seen him play football, only on the TV. Everything about him was pure genius, even when he was pissed he was very much idolised.
MY DAD...........not A celebrity, but, he was MY celebrity. And I miss him dearly.
