As a white man, this is a rediculous solution. They were taken by force to America by white Americans.

Well, apparently they are dumb asses! How can we "go back" to a place most of us have never been to? And its not like we'd be welcome with open arms there either.

Some of you people a digraceful talking about human beings the way you do. Everyone in this country is an immigrant except for the american indians. And look what was done to them by the the so called white americans. I am not racist, but do some of you people even think before you speak or write things down?

First proposed by Marcus Garvey, a black man. As for why a bigot may say such things, who knows. Bigotry involves irrational thought proccesses usually situation-dependent to the bigot in question. So, you'd have to ask a bigot.

just tell white folks to go back to Europe... same difference, the whites came over from Europe, the blacks (by force) from Africa... And if you go back further enough, even the American Indians were said to have migrated over from Russia via the bering straight.. No one has claim over America I assume.. Unless you are a buffalo or or something..

the simple answer...because they are stupid.

Giving the fact that it's common to here these people say things like "why don't they just go back to where they came from" to many other groups of people I think this just stems from their general thought that America is a white nation and those that are not white are not really Americans.

instead of coming to face that this ideal is not true they want those that make them face reality to leave.

A lot of them were sold to white Americans by their own people. Lots of African tribes made a killing selling peasants to slave traders.

A large part of the African-American culture is looking, seeking, hunting for evidence that the White Man is out to get them and is evil. This has nothing to do with skin color, this has to do with parental and social conditioning.

I'd assume it's difficult being stuck in that situation due to the color of your skin and your parent's failure to integrate (intentionally or not). You can't win... whenever you start gaining ground, you're losing ground.

In this case, I really do kinda recommend leaving America. I don't really think going back to Africa is wise though. My Brother-in-Law is Jamaican and his family's situation there was terrible. His father was murdered last year and his uncle as well.

I think the real case is, there is a lot in the way for this minority to thrive in America. If you succeed, it's almost like being a "traitor to your own kind." sort of situation. That's gotta be rough.

I hope that mentality goes the way of the dinosaur in future generations of African-Americans. Their ancestors had it rough, no fooling, but a lot of immigrants had it so bad that they gave up their whole world for a fresh start in America without a dime in their pocket. Their fight is with the Southern Gentleman (which went the way of the dinosaur) not with 21st Century caucasian Americans who have never, and will never own a slave.

If a lot of these blowhards really cared about injustice, they'd get involved in groups preventing the injustice, exploitation and corruption of the nations in Africa today.

In my eyes, African Americans are not a race. They are a minority of a race. America has been around long enough now that we are a people... and whoever doesn't want that or tries to make it difficult to move on and progress as a people because of crimes that happened in the past are a speedbump and should be treated as such. Those crimes happened, the guilty parties involved got away with it, I wasn't involved and I'm not going to make any apologies for what a bunch of greedy businessmen I'm not even related to did to make their plantations more profitable.

I don't subscribe to white guilt, there is no remedy that will make anyone feel better and there is no one alive that we can put on trial. I refuse to live my life as if I'm a criminal and have blood on my hands over the poor poor African American. I think all in all, the Native Americans got a much worse, much more raw deal in comparison. I think African Americans are crying about a stubbed toe in comparison to the sucking chest wound the Native Americans received. They gathered together as a people and have started to gain some ground in America's economy with casinos and hotels and such and are on their way to becoming a strong economical force in America. I've yet to see something like that from the African Americans.

I hope in the end, that this offshoot African American culture wakes up. African Americans have had so much positive impact on our society whether through the arts, literature, fashion, music and film. The effect is apparent throughout popular culture and is so valuble to our society that it's disrespectful to belittle or ignore.

I wish more people paid attention to Coltrane, Hendrix, Davis, Ellington, Charles instead of focusing on that meathead 50cent or that junk started by Run DMC. 5 years before Run DMC, there was funk, there was George Clinton... now we have Jay-Z coming out of retirement because the state of popular music is so bad that he's literally the best thing anyone could muster.

That's heartbreakingly sad to me. But it's also the end of record companies being able to successfully push untalented musicians as if they are cattle onto hungry masses, which cancels out the sadness for me in a lot of ways.

All in all, if you think you could thrive and find happiness outside of America then you should. It's a fact, that's got nothing to do with skin color. I work with a lot of people from India and Fiji. They come here, take a job, work so hard and save their money, then go back to home country and live their lives more comfortably because the opportunities to succeed in America outweigh where they are from.

I see dedication (and success) like that, and I find it less and less reasonable to buy into the "White man keeping me down" mentality that plagues so many Americans today. I'd hire African-Americans if I were in a postion to hire anyone if they had the qualifications. Most of the people I work with and know would and have. I think this phantom evil white man fades more and more every 5 years or so. With any luck, it'll just become a thing of the past.

Because if bigots said "Go to Africa for the first time in your life" it wouldn't sound as tough.

Exactly. Bigots are ignorant in so many ways. We've all been unwanted at one time or another because of Nationality or religion.

That just shows how dumb they are. I have people say it to me and I'm Jamaican. Maybe they are just too stupid to realize that Africa is not the only Country that black people can come from, or African is the only Country they can spell.
