Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is an excellent example of a satire, namely a satirical novella about a farm being taken from the human's that own it and run by the animals that lived and worked there. It is an allegory for communism based on the U.S.S.R. and other world powers from the 1900s.

A good example is Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. Read the book or catch the film. (Note: The screenplay for the film was written by Buck Henry who wrote for Saturday Night Live in the late 70's.)
