Lieberman seems pretty hip. So there's 1. Can anyone come up with another one?

Most would have an intelligent and fact researched response, I think you may be looking for responses that coddle you own personally held feeling versus those based on actual facts, the post that showed Clinton action on welfare reform is a great example of the left knowing what the heck we're doing and the right paying lip service and even stealing intellectual concepts from our play book

Truth be told as far as politicians go, neither side seems to back up with anything substantial. They play on voter feelings. Republicans will say they'll cut taxes (playing on your feeling that you want to keep more of your money) and then only give those tax cuts to the rich. Or they are against abortion (playing on feelings of protecting babies), but then refuse to help the mothers in any way to take care of the baby once it is born.
On the other hand Democrats say they'll take care of the poor, then set up a system of welfare (which is good) but then provide no way for the poor to get out of welfare. They'll give them money to eat, but provide almost no way for education so they can survive on welfare now, and get off it in the future. They say they want to save lives in Iraq, then provide no way of gettting out or winning any more than Bush has. In essence they also are just a bunch of talk and just play on the emotions of the people, rather than either side having any real and usable ideas.

I'm a republican, but I really vote on the issues. I think some dems know what they are talking about but the extremist who say everything thats wrong in the world is b/c of bush or any other republicans, they don't really know anything. I want someone to convince me why they are right not why the other person is wrong, not "oh vote for me by default" and it seems thats what a lot of Democrats use as their reasoning. I don't think ALL democrats are bad... i just think a bunch of them are!

Do you?
In response to the Dems setting up welfare and not offering a way out, read the following. Hopefully it will shed some light. Also, note the year.
On August 22, 1996, President Clinton signed the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act, fulfilling his longtime commitment to ‘end welfare as we know it.’ As the President said upon signing, “... this legislation provides an historic opportunity to end welfare as we know it and transform our broken welfare system by promoting the fundamental values of work, responsibility, and family.”
The law contains strong work requirements, performance bonuses to reward states for moving welfare recipients into jobs and reducing illegitimacy, state maintenance of effort requirements, comprehensive child support enforcement, and supports for families moving from welfare to work -- including increased funding for child care. In May 1999, the Department of Health and Human Services released guidance on how states and local governments can use welfare block grant funds to help families move from welfare to work."
Then the Lame Duck Bush comes up with the following:
December 9, 1999
"I proposed two sweeping welfare reform packages, to:
place time limits on welfare benefits;
require able-bodied welfare recipients to get a job, attend school, or train for work;
require participating mothers to identify the fathers of their children so they could contribute to their support;
and emphasize personal responsibility by requiring welfare recipients to sign an independence contract pledging to stay drug-free and keep their kids immunized and in school.
Hmmm sound familiar? Shoooohowdy, Republicans sure do take responsibility for ideas they don't come up with don’t they. PAHLEASE!!!! Republicans steal the ideas from the Dems and then shirk their responsibility for their own debauchery!!!
