i noticed when i go out that when i see an indian couple or a couple with children that an old woman that i assume to be one of the mother's of the couple always tag along. i mean i almost always see a couple and their mother go with them like a supervisor when they go to the mall. just an observation and not a racial attack.

usually the parents still live with the son after he gets married...and they like to go places too. if the rest of the family was going somewhere, they wouldnt just stay home...
it also has to do with the closeness...indian families are really tight and they usually are used to having everyone come along...
and also its not like a supervisor...its more like the parents dont have anything else to do
they also take care of their elders and try to involve them a little more
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Indians are very big on extended family and social gatherings. They love spending time in big groups of friends and relatives. They really value the extended family unit, and are more likely to live in large households, which means granny usually stays with the family and goes out with them.

They are not supervising. They are here to visit this country so they they go to mall to enjoy and shop. More unlike here, they still consider them one family.

That's really lame. Maybe they take better care of the elderly than we do.

They are being nice instead of pretending that grandma doesn't exist.
