I tried to find this out awhile ago. Pretty much the best thing to do is to go to the perfume counter at a couple department stores and use the testers... you can tell the perfume sales person that you're looking to find a new perfume but you're not really sure what you want. Ask her for some samples. They're usually pretty good about giving out what samples they have because it means more sales for them. Just make some small talk with the sales girl and then ask so you don't look like you're just wanting freebies. Have fun, happy sniffing! :)

Any department store gives them out, so just ask! =)
You could also try Sephora because you can smell which ones you'd probably go for and they will make samples for you right then and there so you can see how they work with your skin. This option takes a little more time, but at least I know I'm getting samples of perfume scents that I like.

You should go to one of the department stores at the mall. They always hand out samples in the fragrance department, you just have to ask for them.

I always go into Filene's.
You tell them what your looking for, and they'll give you all these samples to try. They're uber helpful.
