People, He Is Wrong!
I know that the first thing that some people want to holler is that blacks are racist too and they call each other ******, so let me speak on that:
True, you got black people who are racist and call each other *******, but I don't defend them either. I think that they are just as ignorant.
He could have vent out his anger in a different way.
Accidental? I think not!
Not only did he use a racial slur, he went into details about his racism.

The man is racist pure and simple and the worst kind at that.
He is the kind that is lays low, the one that will hurt you when you least expect it. I prefer the ones who show me hatred upfront.
His lengthy diatribe was not spontaneous at all. Those were his thoughts before he vocalized them in a frenzied rant.
His apologies were not sincere either, he's sorry he allowed his true self to show on public TV, is all.
And make no mistake - whosoever makes excuses for him are JUST LIKE HIM.

If it was in the heat of anger and he made one little racial slur, then I could maybe see accepting an apology.. no one is perfect and people do say things they regret (I once made a comment to a black guy I had known for years that he misinterpreted to be racist. He accepted my apology and we've been friends since) but he kept going and going and saying some really awful things. Highly doubtful that the things he said isn't how he really feels. Its sad that anyone would think that what he said is acceptable and should be forgiven with a simple "I'm sorry".

I agree with you, for the most part. He made a mistake, by bringing race into it, and went way overboard. There's no way to rationalize his actions. However, the person he directed it at really shouldn't have been shooting his mouth off, like an obnoxious @$$hole, either. It does not excuse the racist remarks, but I don't think it's nearly as bad as if he'd just walked out on stage, and said something like, "I see we have some ******* in the audience", and proceeded with his rant.
Also, on the subject of use of the word "******", or any such word, I feel that what matters is how you say it, not that/if you say it. A given intention cannot be automatically associated with a word, in general, and applied every time that word is used.

I am not sure why anyone will defend that man he is very disturbed. This case is a perfect example of what happens when you have a hidden racist in you it just comes out and that means your dangerous if by anger you just start attacking like that especially alluding to lynching black people and the subverience of black people to white people the reference of the word "the man" saying that whites are superior. It's the same case with mel gibson see when his inhibitions are gone he speaks what's deep inside him that hate for the jewish religion. Sure each has made excuses for these rants with michael it was behaving badly and losing his temper and mel it was I'm an alcolholic. I have no excuses for them i hope mel makes no more movies and michael does no more standup cause he can't handle hecklers that's pathetic there will always be hecklers. Mel won't make anymore movies and getting rich from making antisemetic movies.

here's the deal for me..being that im a black 34 yr old woman who was introduced to the seinfeld series late in their 7th/early 8th series by my aunt I simply loved the characters/ writing overall loved the series. so for me to have just Heard that he had said what he said i was like "no way, not kramer" but to actually see the video..hell thats him..that is him saying those awful things. i'm not a professional comedian, but i would think in Comedy 101, your taught how to respond to hecklers..some comedians ignore or try to ignore..some zing them back with a funny line or two but i have yet to see such a rant like this that hits way below the belt. I hate the word when it's used by any race, including our own race. I have all 6 of seinfeld dvds and was in the process of purchasing 7th season but can i sit there and watch his performance after seeing his Real performance onstage @ the comedy club? what's the saddest part is ..my aunt that introduced me to the seinfeld series recently passed away, and i'm left to wonder what would she do...she was a die-hard fan..i think the only black woman in indiana who wore a seinfeld shirt...what would she do. so sad. he needs help.

You are correct. I believe it is possible for anyone to let go with a racial slur in the heat of anger, but not repeatedly, and not with references to how great it used to be when you could string them up.

I don't know why anyone would defend him. What he said was wrong. He flipped out! I also do not believe him that he isn't a racist. You just don't come out with that if you're not.
I saw in other questions where someone said that he just killed his career, and I completely agree.

I think they are just defending him out of denial and wishful thinking. They don't want to think that about their beloved Kramer. It was easier with Mel because he already had some enemies in the religious world. People who are defending him are blinding themselves willingly to the wrongness of it because they like him.
