Was Rosie O'Donnell justified for saying Kelly Ripa made a homophobic comment when Ripa made a comment to Clay Aiken during his co-hosting of the Reggis show, about not knowing where Aiken's hand has been? Apparently, Aiken put his hand over Ripa's mouth sometime during the show.

I think you've snuck an extra question in there! :) First, yes, it is just as possible for a homosexual to be homophobic as it is for a hetrosexual to be homophobic... just sadder. Second, no, I don't think Ms. O'Donnell was justified in saying that Ms. Ripa's comment made her homophobic. I think it had nothing to do with his percieved orientation and everything to do with the fact that he is male and who knows where his hands had been and whether or not he had washed them recently? If someone put their hand over my open mouth and I hadn't personally seen them sanitize their hands within the past 30 seconds... I'd be upset too and I don't care what their orientation is!

Internalized homophobia is often considered a big part of what keeps many gays or lesbians in the closet. And there there are also many women who ascribe to misogynist viewpoints. So the idea behind applying the term 'homophobic' to gays or lesbians has precedent; self-hatred, or hatred of those similar to you, is not uncommon.

As for Rosie's claim... it seems dubious at best; her accusation seems like the kind of thing one would say if they're so sensitive to the issues that they start seeing homophobia where it isn't. From the description, Ripa's comment sounds like rip on Aiken (and presumably a good-natured one at that,) and not a slur against homosexuality in general.

it rather is traced to misogyny and hypocrisy. women folk are of much less fee in society than adult men. If a guy is "doing yet another guy like a woman" it rather is an affront to masculinity and brings out the misogyny in different adult men. If gay adult men are effeminate they have a double whammy against them. Being like a woman in any way makes a guy undesirable, undesirable, undesirable. The hypocrisy is presented in because of the fact no longer in basic terms do human beings care much less approximately lesbians (adult men particularly) yet adult men surely get off on watching 2 women folk have intercourse. humorous how all of that Bible communicate is going out the window whilst the "Lesbian Porn" tapes are on the television.

Well I don't think homophobic is a term you can apply to a homosexual who is as out as Rosie. But any one can be against any type of person. I have met many bi-phobic gays and straights. I have met gays who are intolerant of peoples sexual orientations or preferences. I am g0y many gays hate us and call us homophobes. We can not be homophobes because we freely admit that we are homosexual men.

Yes, it's quite possible to make homophobic remarks if you are a homosexual. Contrary to how some people seem to think, being a minority does not grant one immunity from being a racist/homophobe. All you have to do is make a /racist/homophobic remark.

Who is Rosie to sit in judgement of anyone. Why is her loud mouth an opinion of any importance? I am a liberal and embarassed by her actions.
