The Twin Towers no longer exist - they were destroyed.

The official name of the "twin towers" was the World Trade Center. They were a complex of office buildings in New York City's Borough of Manhattan, near the financial district.

Their construction started in 1964 and was completed in 1972

The World Trade Center consisted of two 110 floor office buildings [1 World Trade Center and 2 World Trade Center] three 6 floor office buildings [4 World Trade Center, 5 World Trade Center and 6 World Trade Center] and the World Trade Center Marriott Hotel. There was a seventh building, Seven World Trade Center, a 50 floor office building across the street, that was finished in 1980.

1 World Trade Center had a restaurant on the top floor, Windows on the World, and 2 World Trade Center had an observation deck and a large television transmission antenna.

2 World Trade Center was the tallest building in America from 1972 to 1984, when the Sears Tower was built in Chicago.

On September 11th, 2001, members of al-Qaeda, a terrorist group from Saudi Arabia, hijacked 4 airliners. Two of those planes were crashed into the World Trade Center, causing the collapse of all seven of the World Trade Center towers, and the deaths of almost 2,900 people

The twin towers were the WTC (World Trade Center) that was bombed in 1993 and again on September 11, 2001 in which two planes were flown into them and ended up killing a bunch of people. They were in New York in Manhattan until they collapsed. Now the place is referred to as ground zero.

Anyway, The Twin Towers were two building built in 1960. They were bombed in the early 1990's and were destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001 when terrorists flew a plane and to each building.
