I work long hours for the NHS, so does my husband. We are not entitled to any concessions of any kind. My neighbour doesn`t work and gets most of her bills paid, she has asthma and gets more benefit for it and smokes all the time, I have asthma and I can work!! She has just bought a £700.00 laptop. Where is the justice?

Nope! But there are so many of us working, and making ends meet, and pay for that privilege in more way s then one. It does not encourage you to work and help yourself does it.
Well never mind mate, at least we can live with our consciences
cant we ! ;0)

Life is never fair! I'm on Incapacity Benefit at the moment and would LOVE to get back to work but I'm just too ill. Some people know how to "play" the system and this person seems like one of those.
All I can say to you is keep up the great job you do in the NHS, I'm sure some people never thank the system you work in, but I really appreciate all that those in the NHS do for the general population.

If you work for the NHS,are you not entitled to certain concessions,ie,affordable housing? Medical & Non-medical staff are entitled to the the same help. You also get priority medical help as a NHS worker.Sometimes money is not always a way of getting assistance.Check out what you are entitled to. Unfortunately there is no justice for workers these day's,or so it would appear. Perhaps its time to join the "players"!!!

Yes, putting the talons back would be a good idea. Instead of comparing you life to that of others, focus on making the best life you can with what you having. At least your aren't a smoker with asthma.

I come across this all the time. You work and pay your hard earned taxes, so that some idle bum can sit at home on their idle backside doing absolutely nothing. They can afford to drink, smoke and buy hugely expensive electronic gear and in some circumstances are even provided with a brand new motor car. Of course it's unfair, but that's the way it is in the UK.
You'll never stop it, so unless you want to resort to that way of living (if you can call it that), you just have to adopt a totally blinkered outlook on life and pretend it just doesn't exist. Luckily, I enjoy my life, but it doesn't stop me resenting those who are totally capable of working, using my taxes for their idle ends.

That is a mute point considering how much money congress is embezzling from the Social Security fund every day to pay for their pork barrel projects to buy votes or improve access to their lands or their big campaign contributors lands.

I agree with you totally. It's just not right. I have a cousin who did nothing but drink all her life, cherished drinking and placed it first, even gave up her children for her drinking, now claims disability because of the health problems she now has from it. But guess what? She's not too disabled to ride a motorcycle, or go out clubbing!

It's not fair and I feel the same, but hey ho it's off on nights i go. At least we have the pride to work and it may be a small piece in a large puzzle your job definetly makes a difference. Be lucky.

No, life isn't fair. Whoever told you it was, you should sue! There will always be people who give, and others who take. You can rightly feel bitter about the takers, but remember there is much more pride and satisfaction in being a giver.

No one said life was fair. Don't compare your life to others. Be grateful you can work and provide for yourself.
I'm hunting hard for a job after becoming disabled. Since I'm not 100% disabled, the U.S. government expects me to work.... but try starting a new career at the age of 47! I'm competing against young women for the same jobs.... and let's face it.... I'm not likely to get hired. I can't do my old job because of the disability.... which is documented. But they say I can do general office work. Sure I can. But someone has to hire me first.
Life isn't fair. But I still believe God has a plan. I'm trusting Him to work this out.
God Bless,
Sue
