I like playing it for the first 30 minutes, then when it just keeps going and going and gooooing, 4 hours later I get tired of it and feel like throwing the board across the room.

I do like to play Monopoly.
Monopoly has a bad reputation because the game can take so long. You can keep this from happening by playing exacly by the printed rules in the box. Most people have never read them!
Don't use the "Free Parking" space to win free money.
Don't let people slide by paying their rent. They need to mortgage or sell their property. Once they have nothing left yet still owe money, they are out of the game. No free rides!
If you follow the rules, the amount of money in play stays limited, and players are forced out of the game much more quickly. A game of Monopoly, when played by the rules, should take about an hour.

I LOVE monopoly! Especially special editions like Star Wars monopoly!

No. It's a classic game but, compared to many modern games, it is deeply flawed.
It takes too long to play, there's not much in the way of critical decision making and a good part of the game is the tedious "grinding out the win" when there is no real chance of the leading capitalist being overthrown.
A class of German board games (Ravensberger and other companies), from the 1970's on, led the way in showing what could be done with simple rules but intrigueing interplay and mechanisms.
Settlers of Catan is perhaps the most popular of these, and even that may not necessarily be the best!

Absolutely! I collect Monopoly games, too. I have Maine, dot.com, the millenium edition, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Disney, National Parks, Red Sox and the plain old Monopoly.
