I assume that when they invented bra, they came in limited sizes, ie A, B, C and D. When they took off and they needed to create more sizes to make them for more people, they went smaller with AA and larger with DD. Then they just continued the trend.
Keep in mind that if we didn't have DD, E, EE, F, FF etc, and instead had D, E, F, G, H etc, then some women would be wearing size Q. Most people don't like their size to sound too large

It's just a weird sizing system. Originally there was only an 'A', not an 'AA'. Any bra smaller than an A was considered a training bra. Then they decided to start making a smaller bra for young woman. Since they already had an 'A' they went to 'AA'. For a short while, there was also 'AAA'. But that size has all but vanaished.
As for 'DD' not all makers use it. Some go D,E,F,G,H,I,J, some will go D,DD,E,F,G,H,I, some use D,DD,DDD,E,EE,F

Usually the double sizes are because the woman is like an "a" cup and a half. That works on sizes from a-d. After that the double size represents a second cup size but instead of going to a size m they can make the woman feel smaller by having a double "ff" or whateve size they are. Hope this helps :)

AA is how you say the cup size that is smaller than A. There isn't a letter before A in the alphabet, so AA is used.
You don't need BB, because it would be the equivelant of C
Just as CC would be the same as D
DD is used as a substitute for E
DDD means F
Some people would rather keep adding on more D's than go to the next letter of the alphabet.

It's because some bramakers are silly. Unfortunately, cup sizes over a D aren't standardized. This makes comparing very hard because one company's DD is another's E. One letter per inch difference would be ideal.

lol because D is typically the largest bra size, and A the smallest. and it would make sense to make the next size up E.
DD = XL
AA = XS

I don't know why. However, Playtex does make an A1/2 and a b1/2 AND a C1/2.

Yeah, that is just the way it is. I have no idea why and have no idea how they came up with the stupid measuring guides either. I can only assume a man came up with the idea................
