just calm down and relax. play like usual. Many good player i know lose because they r too nervous and cant think clearly. After finish a match, go out and take a walk until ur next match. Dont go around watching others' match,it will make u more nervous. You can do that after u finished all matches u have in that day.
Good luck 4 ur tournament.

Watch "Searching for Bobbye Fisher" and remember that there is more to life than chess. It's nice to be able to PLAY like Bobbye Fisher, but you don't really want to BE Bobbye Fisher.

Once you've grounded yourself in reality, then it becomes like any other game. If you believe the tournament Poker players these days, one of the most important things is rest. Depending on the tournament, it could last a long time, and if you're not well rested, you'll start to make a lot of dumb mistakes. Likewise, online chess can be good, but if you're going to a tournament with real people, you should try to get that kind of practice in equally if not moreso.

The best strategy for your first tournaments, and maybe even your later ones is to relax, enjoy yourself and have fun.
Know the game, but don't worry about it. remember, at the begginner level you are learning, so don't take yourself to seriously. When you get back home, you will know what you need to better your game for the next level. If Chess or anything else you do for fun is not fun, there are other things to do.
