Congratulations on your pregnancy, I am having this problem at the moment, Im sure Im carring a boy but on the ultrasound she said its more then likely a girl. I have carried both and it feels more like a boy, so my husband and I have a bet. He really wants a boy but thinks its a girl because of the ultrasound, and I believe my mother inlaw who did the ring test many times both before and during the pregnancy and says its a boy.
Its a 50/50 chance and its very possible they got it wrong. My sister inlaw was told she was having a boy at all her scans, my mother in-law said no its a girl, and surly enough my niece was born 9 days after my daughter and I was told I was having a girl. I think you should trust your intinct but remember it could go either way so you should buy nutral colours and only 1-2 things in pink or blue until your baby is born. If you buy pink and its a boy then you can use the outfits as a gift later on, and blue girls can wear blue around the house.
I believe that its more of a guess, the umbellical cord could be there and to know the sex they need a perfect view most times they have a good view but ther is always room for eror, this is why they need to stress its not 100% garenteed your havig a boy. I wish you all the very best and hope you get the little princess you desire or the little prince if thats what he decides to be. Good luck and best wishes.

Could be wishful thinking. If you were told 3 times that it's a boy, it's most likely a boy. Of course they are sometimes wrong, but just remember this is what these people do for a living. They see ultrasounds ALL the time.

Generally by 19 weeks you can really see whats going on in there. Especially with all the new equipment. Most mothers who have had children even 5 years ago delt with older less clear equipment.
However, its not 100%. There is a slim chance that its a girl, but typically by 19 weeks there is a definite difference between a penis and the vulva, and the testes and lips. Its more common to have a boy called a girl, since some little guys develop slower than usual, and things have separated and 'sprung' up yet.
But the chances of a doctor seeing a vulva and mistaking it for a penis is pretty rare, especially at nearly 5 months.
You can call a local hospital with the 4d ultrasounds. Insurance doesnt cover them, since therye consisdered novalties. but you dont need a referal to have one done. You can just call and make an appointment to have one. Then you'd have a better idea.

My first was a boy and was determined at 16 weeks by ultrasound. My second, in my gut I felt it was a boy but by the third ultrasound saying girl, it was hard to deny anymore. So you could imagine my surprise when my little Jacob was born. And a very well endowed Jacob I might add. How these technicians missed that is still a mystery. What I am saying, trust your gut... your instincts are normally correct.

sometimes they are wrong. my doctor told me i was having a girl, but i told my mom not to run out and buy girlie things just yet. cause there has been so many times when they say one thing, and then when you have the baby its something completely different. actually lol that happened to my moms friend last year. everyone bought her girl clothes and toys, and she had a boy. so try to request another ultra sound...thats what im gonna do. cause my baby was moving so much when i was getting the ultrasound there is NO WAY she could tell it was a girl.
love jen.

My sister-in-law swore that her second child was a girl. After the first ultrasound, the doc told her it was a boy. She still didn't believe him. He then did a 3-D ultrasound a few weeks later to confirm his results. My nephew is now 2. I would trust your doc.

My opinion is that it is easier to identify a boy as a girl than a boy for a girl. Congratulations to you!!! I am 16 weeks and can't wait to go to the doctor to find out girl or boy. take care

It's not an exact science. At that stage of development the genitals of both sexes are very similiar. But these people are trained, so I'd be inclined to believe what they say. Just keep an open mind to surprises...
