For Thanksgiving 2006, I am thankful for my 3 beautiful children, for my husband who, despite the problems we have been having, is as committed as I am to our 21 year marriage and working out our problems. I am thankful that my mom, dad, sisters, their husbands and children are all healthy and safe. I also give thanks to those men and women who are fighting in wars that I may not agree with, but who are giving their time and lives to keeping our world a safer place.

I'm thankful for another day, for God protecting me and blessing me when I deserve anything but. I'm thankful for love, beauty, laughter, music. Sometimes I think to myself " I wish I was a lama in Mongolia. I would be born in a beautiful land, live by instinct, and then die without a care about heaven or hell. Being human is so hard " but lamas can't love, they have no concept of beauty, they don't cry, they don't laugh, they can't have the feeling that I have when I hear music. They are just here. I'm so glad that I can feel and that the human race has be given such favor that we have all these gifts to enjoy in the world. There is more to our lives than just being here. Sometimes it feels like a burden that I was born into this world. We have no say at all. We're just plopped here one day. Sometimes I would rather not be human when I think of what we carry on our shoulder. But when I think of what it means to be human and how special we are I am thankful. In spite of all the horrible things that are true of human nature, and all the pain we have the ability for feel, the human spirit is an awesome thing. So I guess on this thanksgiving I'm just thankful that I was born, that I was given a life to live, and for all the people's lives that my life will intertwine with.

I am thankful I am still breathing. I am also thankful to the great cancer Doctors and others on the medical team and for chemo drugs and my familys support. This holiday marks the fifth anniversary of my big surgery to remove the overies that had gone bad.
Stage4 Ovarian cancer is my foe and I seem to be winning.
Time will tell. I am also thankful for many other things too numerous to mention...if I did the answer would be way too long.

My beautiful happy, healthy amazing daughter. The beauty of nature. My health. The chance to go back to school. That I don't live in a country where I have no rights, bombs could hit my house at any time, or my child could be starving or dieing from a disease that could be easily treated with medicine. That there are people who are fighting for what's good in spite of all the bad in the world.

My husband and great neighbors. They let my hubby out of the hospital to enjoy Thanksgiving at home if I bring him back next week and I am most grateful to have him here. My neighbors have been just awesome while he was hospitalized. They feed me and the fur girls (dogs), mowed my lawn, brought over groceries, drove me to the hospital on several occasions, picked up perscriptions and kept me sane. I am so blessed to live in a neighborhood of such caring, kind and thoughtful people.
