The Bonhomme Richard was a frigatte ship built in France. In 1777, France decided to join America and help them in the revolution. The ship was named for the French translation of "Poor Richard" after Poor Richard's Almanac. Ben Franklin was the most famous American in the world, so he was the first person the French thought of when they named the ship.
The ship was given to John Paul Jones. Jones took to the Atlantic Ocean and started attacking little English villages on the coast.
The Battle of Golden Hill wasn't really a battle. The Son of Liberty were trying to stop English soldiers from posting an announcement. The soldiers drew their guns, and the men got scared and ran into the woods. No shots were fired, no one got hurt. These little flare-ups were common in Massachusetts, leading up to the Boston Massacre March 5 1770.
