That is very possible indeed, but the amount of space necessary for Answers is probably just a small part of the total disk space that all of Yahoo services use and a tiny fraction of what Google uses. So, if it is, it is more of a commercial limitation than a technical one. Any rate, they most likely dump some questions from time to time, or maybe move them to older and slower servers.
