LOL Good question!
Stereotypes I had before coming over...bad teeth, nice accents, tea loving, bad bad boring food.
What I learned after living here: interesting teeth (I like nonperfect teeth actually), nice and very different accents depending on where the person is from, tea loving, very ethnic food that can sometimes be very very good!

Americans love guns and donuts? Well... that's a new one on me! LOL In my family, we like knives and ice-cream. hehehe

The Englishman is depicted as a very sober, artistocratic type. He's snobbish and sophisticated.

He says funny things like "Bloody Hell!" "Jolly good!" and "Cheerio old chap!"

A Brit doesn't know that a baby sucks on a pacifier rather than a dummy, a cracker is not a biscuit, and SPOTTED DICK is definitely not what an American thinks it is. If you've got one, you definitely want to have that checked!

Stereotypes are just that.... and no one should pay attention to them.

I bet British people are nice, fun, and loving.... just like Americans.... when we aren't pointing a gun at you! :o)

Best Wishes,

Sue

My friends tend to go along with the stuffy and bad teeth stereotype, but having spent time in the UK, I dont have a stereotypical type of "brits"! I envy your culture and your refined language! And your Strongbow Cider! How I miss that!

First, not all Americans think alike...I don't own a gun and never will, and I haven't had a doughnut in a couple of years...

Now, as to what *I* think of Brits? Much more open-minded and liberal than most Americans, generally smart and more world-savvy than most Americans, they love their holidays (and get real time off work to take them, unlike most Americans!), drink hard, play hard, don't necessarily work all that hard :)

Wonderful people in general, I've spent a lot of time in the UK over the last 6-7 years and love it.
Cheers.

My family is British and I've been to the UK, the only differences I've noticed are in the food and in the shape of the country.

My opinion is that the Brits are nicer though, but I can't prove that.

Does the term Brit include us Scots, Welsh and Irish. Were you referring specifically to England or The U.K . Very different cultures, So what do Americans think of Scots?

stereotypes are lame i have a few online english friends but the normal stereo types are: you all have bad teeth, you eat boiled food, are snobby, your food sucks.
