fair has more than one meaning.
you can be fair and not cheat on a test.
or you can be fair like they used to call women 'fair ladies' back in king aurthur days. fair meaning beautiful.
soooo you get 'beautiful of face' when you use the other definition.

pretty- like delicate, attractive. it probably also means very light skin.
