In my opinion the gift of lingerie is ALWAYS good.

It depends on the relationship you have with this girl. If you have an intimate relationship then lingerie can be quite a nice gift, if you are looking to get intimate by buying the lingerie - not so nice. Don't go tacky and cheap, especially if it is the first time buying, unless that's what she likes (some do). Get the right size! Nothing could be more embarrassing than getting something too small! Look at her size of underwear and bra before you go shopping. The salespeople already know you probably don't know what you're doing, so as long as you have basic info, you should be ok.
You could always present this Christmas present the night before Christmas when its just the two of you, might make for a wonderful Christmas Eve.

if ur girl likes to dress sexy for u then yes but if u doing it to try to push her in that direction it not a good idea.
and if u must buy lingerie check some of her underwear to ensure u get the right size

I depends, if she likes things like that, then it's perfect. But, if you're not sure than you should probably stay away from lingerie, maybe go with some jewelry.

Absolutely. I'd wear anything my man bought for me. That is, assuming you have her CORRECT sizes.
Some women though have a list of things they like and things they do not like. So find her preference, and stick with it. No crotchless panties if she thinks they are for porn stars and street walkers. It should be not - entirely - uncomfortable also.

If it's for your gf or wife, then yes. It would probably be more appropriate to give in private, after the guests have left.

Only if she is your wife or girlfriend. I would also buy her a piece of jewelry to go along with it. If you are buying something really sexy she'll only wear for you, the gift is really for you not her.
