My 11 year old son has recently starting using my blue or black eyeliner to line his eyes in the evenings and he puts it on thick. He says he likes the way it looks. I want to make his adolescence as painless as possible but I have to admit, it bothers me a little to see my baby with thick eyeliner on. He's a very good kid, he does well in school, I have no other worries. Any suggestions? Should I be concerned?

He might just be going through some phase right now just give it sometime and if it really bothers you talk to him. There's only so much that us mother's can do to protect our children form painless adolescence. Just be there for him witch i am sure you are if he needs to talk. I don't think there's nothing to be concern unless you as a mother know there's something wrong and you need to address it. Hope it helps : )

severe college already? like the 9th grade? Did he pass some grades alongside the way, via the indisputable fact that would clarify why he's performing the way he's. i became 15 even as i began the 9th grade, that's continually 14-15 12 months olds that initiate severe college. in the adventure that your son has skipped grades, he would no longer have the mentality to be there, no longer contained in the smarts branch, yet truly contained in the waiting to co habitat with the older youngsters and are doing issues to educate himself. if you're from someplace distinct the position severe college ability something else, he should be attempting to educate himself to different youngsters with the intention to have bullies go away him on my own, it really is why he pulled the pants down of the different baby, it appears like he would favor to communicate with someone outdoors of the school like a counselor to come back to grips such as his anger situation and why he's being diruptive like that.

He may just want to be like others. It's popular for guys too to wear make-up now-a-days,I'm a 12 year old going on 13 and I wear no make-up.My twin sister wears very heavy eyeliner though. It's fine really. For all the people who say emo is bad, it's not, it's not all slitting your wrists or anything. He gets good grades so he's obviously not emo or he would fell like nothing. And ask for 'that Greenday Crap' Alot of people like that band and I liked them way before others so if he listens to that band it's no big deal.My friends parents made her stop litening to Marilyn Manson because she cut herself but the music dosen't make you hurt yourself so just ask him why he like the eye-liner.

I used to dye my hair crazy colors, wear bad makeup and dress goth or punk. I also got into my fair share of trouble in highschool. My parents fought it at first, but eventually they stood aside and let me experiment as I chose. Now, I've got a 3.7 GPA in college and am able to support myself so problem! I'm doing so bad; I'm not in jail and haven't committed any horrible crimes. Sometimes you have to trust your kid to do what's best and remember, they're kids, they do some stupid things sometimes. He's figuring out who he is, and might go through ten personality changes before settling into his true self. Try to be supportive and caring instead of chastising and worrying about every little thing unorthidox.

Nah. I wouldn't be concered at all. If you want, ask him why he does it, and go out and get him his own eyeliner. Just be supportive of your son if he wants to try a new style. People are all to quick to say "your kid is becoming goth!rmo! punk! you're a bad mom for letting him!" you're not....If you child wants to follow that lifestyle, then let him. Just be sure that he knows that cutting, killing, suicide, depresstion is NOT assiciated with being goth, punk or emo, it's just attention getters. Let your son be who he wants to be! You just be his support!!

good luck!

As long as he's a good student, getting good grades and not getting into any trouble - then let him use the eyeliner. One day he'll grow out of it. Or, hide your eyeliner..

Ask him why he does it only in the evening, and not for going to school?

11-years-old seems young to be starting the whole "emo" thing, but you never know. Talk to him about it...or make him buy his own eyeliner...lol.

He is just experimenting with individuality. Teach him about acceptance and encourage him to use his artistic abilities, but let him know that he can always be open to you about his little quirks and you will love him no matter what. If you punish him or make him try to stop this, he may feel alienated and do it just to rebel.

Maybe a little concerned. It is definately not natural. But just watch his actions. Keep paying attention to his grades, friends, and attitude. Maybe go talk to some of his teachers and ask if they have seen any changes in him.

I would as him why he likes it and where he learned how to wear it. That should give you some insight into whether you should be worried or not. If he likes because "it's cool" and "i dunno" Then i wouldn't worry too much as look as he still stays a well-mannered, well-rounded kid. I would explain to him though that if he wears it in public he may be a little embarrased, and explain about peer pressure.
