President Bush said that God had told him to invade Afghanistan and Iraq and create a Palestinian state, former and current Palestinian officials tell BBC. The White House says they are lying. What do you think?
"President Bush said to all of us: 'I'm driven with a mission from God,' " former Palestinian Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath recounted in his interview with BBC TWO. The meeting was Mr. Bush's first with Mr. Shaath and then-Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas ("Abu Mazen") in June 2003.
"God would tell me, 'George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan.' And I did, and then God would tell me, 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq ...' And I did. And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, 'Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East.' And by God I'm gonna do it," Mr. Shaath quoted Mr. Bush as saying.
Abu Mazen, too, recounted how Mr. Bush invoked God. "I have a moral and religious obligation.

Yes, he's just as much a nutjob as the terrorists.
Bush has said many times -- a bunch of them on video tape -- that he gets directions from god on how to conduct the affairs of the US. I doubt the Palestinians are making any of this up.
Frankly, that doesn't say much about "god's" judgement -- you'd think "god" would have had an exit strategy for Iraq, or that he would have known what a mess it would become, or that he would have known that Bush wouldn't catch Bin Laden when he invaded Afghanistan..."god" sure has a pretty poor track record when it comes to making US political decisions. Or, could it be that "god" doesn't really tell Bush anything, and he came up with all these hairbrained schemes on his own? :)

You have to first consider the credibility of the sources of this information. Not exactly trustworthy people, are they? Don't forget that these individuals are anti-American and have their own agendas. That being said, even if true, lots of people think they are on a mission from God or are told by God to do something. These types of statements aren't necessarily true. The instructions could easily come from Satan, who can masquerade as an angel of light-2Cor.11:14. The problem is when a person who believes they've heard from God, doesn't "test the spirits"-1Jn.4:1- and gets in trouble as a result. If these reports about Pres. Bush are true, and I emphasize the word if, it's possible it may've been the Lord or it could've been from Satan. The only way to know for sure is by the content of what Pres. Bush was allegedly told. I can certainly see the Lord telling the President of the US to fight the evils of terrorism and even to depose an evil tyrant like Sadam Hussein. I can't see the Lord telling him to give land to the Palestinians which, according to God's own Word, belongs to Israel. Work for peace in the Middle East? Absolutely. At any cost? No way, especially when it is a contradiction of the promises found in the Bible, because God will never break His promises, especially promises made to Israel. Thus has it been since Abraham and thus will it always be."God is not a man that He should lie, nor the son of man that He should repent. Has He not said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"-Numbers 23:19

So, let me get this straight, because Nabil Shaath said so it is true? Nabil Shaath is a known liar (look up the incidents regarding his claims of Israeli massacres when all evidence showed otherwise). Besides, it seems a bit odd, no? Bush would not tell anyone else of his alleged private views on Iraq but he would tell them to Nabil Shaath and Abu Mazen? Maybe if it was a close friend of his it would have more credibility.

Look, Pres. Bush is CRAZY! I'll be honest, I voted for him last term just because none of the other choices were any better.
But the truth is, he's insane. The is the last trem he will ever serve, and I think we can make it. At least he's trying to do something good. We put up with those people for long enough. The things that they do are awful, and it's not like 9/11 was the first attempt to kill innocent people.
I think the best thing everyone can do is wait for the next election. VOTE! I don't even care who you vote for. Vote and let's hope the next one will be sane and not make America the laughing stock of Earth like our last two Presidents.

Still hanging out in the pot-filled barn, I see.
Don't worry, when we get done training our new police force in Iraq, we will take care of the likes of you. (sarcasm).
So our President is a Christian. There are so many nonsectarian reasons to establish a democracy in the middle east.
Stop fearing the Christian Right's morality and start questioning your own.

One would do well to question the truthfulness of any Palestinian.
Without direct quotes, I do not believe this is what he said exactly - it is a paraphrasing, which should not be taken literally.

I wish he would have done nothing and then the Taliban would take over and then all liberal women would have to live as oppressed, second class citizens.
