Yep, it depends a lot

If you want a Mac, Apple laptops really are the best Macs around, they're also the only Macs :)

If you want a PC, I've had good experiences w/ IBM (Lenovo) PC's. Really though, there isn't that much difference. Consumer Reports does their thing, but I really don't see much difference.

Go for whatever has the specs you want at a price you want.

I have owned at least 6 laptops and out of the windows ones I would reccomend Dell. I use a MAC now and will stay with that for a long....... time. Good luck hunting, many laptops...... :)

From experiance, I personally like IBM's, or Lenovo's. Dell is just bad because they die after a very short time, and half of the acers that are sold are returned. Im not too sure about Toshiba, but if your getting it fixed it takes awhile. Go with Lenovo!

Toshiba, absolutely no question. I make a living selling laptops, and i have never seen someone have a problem with a Toshiba. They really make a high quality product.
