the mp3 player can only play songs so it is very limited. the ipod on the other hand can be used to store many things like videos, pictures, and music too.
so the difference is that the ipod has way more features than the regular mp3 player.

Ipods are simply MP3 players made by Apple Computers. MP3 players are all music, video and photo players. Most people refer to MP3 players as Ipods, because about 75% of the MP3 players sold are Ipods.

An Ipod is an Mp3 but with a name and NO bass button most Mp3 players have a bass button. You really are buying/perpetuating the aura of the Ipod when you buy one. The reason it cost so much is because everyone has one -- even Bush -- and so essentially that is what you are paying for.

Ipods only work with music downloaded on Itunes. MP3s work with music downloaded off of Windows Media Player, Napster, Limewire, and the rest.
