Gengivitis is common during pregnancy, and left untreated it has been linked to early miscarriages, due to the kind of bacteria that grows.
If it were me, and I were in your place, I would start brushing and swishing with listerine products a few times a day. And take ONE tylenol to relieve the pain every 4-6 hours.
if it doesnt change or start to feel better in two day's, I'd call the dentist and just make an appointment anyhow. Most dentists let you make payments...

YES, an infection definitely can hurt you *and* your unborn baby. Last year I was in the exact same position, I had one tooth (impacted wisdom tooth) that was badly infected and my face even swelled up on that side.
I went to the dentist and he referred me to a specialist (surgeon) to remove it, because he said it could kill both me and the baby. I had to go into the hospital for surgery it was that bad, with them giving me antibiotics almost the whole time.
My baby was just fine (I was 2 months pregnant at the time if I remember right), though he did come early (water broke at 31 1/2 weeks, he came at 34 weeks, they prolonged it). I don't know if that has anything to do with the surgery or not.
It's very important to get it taken care of right now!

I dont think you could get an infected tooth becuase of your pregnancy. But I think if you have a dentist just for a check up its free. You should go do that as soon as possible.

I had a tooth abscess late in my third month. I was worried about it affecting the pregnancy, but I couldn't afford to go to the dentist. So, I contacted my regular physician and he prescribed antibiotics. I could only take Tylenol for the pain and put heated compresses on my face. But, with the antibiotics, it cleared up in about a week. This might work for you too, you should ask your doctor.

I have two boys and each pregnacy I had an infected tooth. From what my Dr told me it could. You could spread the infection and can get in your blood and pass to baby . My Dr always told me Make an appointment now .

Any infection you have in your body can infect your baby. A lot of miscarriage's are caused from bad teeth. Go in right away and get it taken care of.

Oh yeah, anytime a tooth abscesses, it can affect your general health if untreated. You need to see a dentist & get on antibiotics. If you let it go, the bone in your jaw could become infected.

there are only certain types of antibiotics you cna take but you need to call a physcian first to verify if they are safe as for now you are able to take regular tylenol for pain no ibuprofen unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor. but make sure you talk with doctors and make your dentist aware of your pregnancy. i was in that situation and unfortunatly my dentist told me i would have to wait until after my baby was born to do any dental work. please consult your obgyn first

Isn't dental care free for you during pregnancy? Or is that just an English thing? If you are in England, care is free, but if you're elsewhere, I'm sorry, I haven't a clue :)
