Does any one know how to bend the ball in the freekicks in FIFA 07?

I always struggle to bend the kick, also i powerup the kick to half or less of the power meter and it the player just skies the ball into orbit.

I think that click the R3 button then use R and L 1 to bend it while holding down the R3 button. for the power of the kicks, are you keeping it in the desiered power zone?
