it may be between a father and his child

It would be a wake up call in the way I was treating/raising that child.

Children mimick the personality (good and bad habits) of those they exposed to. So it would make sense to really delve into what types of things the child is being exposed to that is creating that sort of reaction.

I would ask, "Have I been too critical of that child?" "What can I do to change that?" ... and watch for results... although it will take time to reap what you sow.

I would feel fortunate, because:
1. The child trusted me enought to tell me the truth.
2. The child gave me honest constructive criticism.
3. Each generation is more intelligent than the previous, so the child gave you some better ideas to consider and potentially improve your work.

Be patient and consider what the child is telling you. It will add value to both of your lives. Good luck.

Take it with a grain of salt. Kids are honest. and sometimes they have an eye or sensitivity for beauty that we do not possess. Listen to her suggestions, it will also boost her ego, because you give importance to what she says. What is a little nick to the father's ego compared to the vital boost to hers. She will always treasure that moment for life. It makes her feel important.

Out of the mouths of babes.

Listen patiently you may just have found an honest critic. Ask his suggestions for improving it. If he doesn't have any he's just complaining if he does he's trying to help.

Don't take it that seriously. A child's tastes are not well developed and they also tend to be more blunt than adults.

It would make me re-examine my work, because children are often more honest with their opinions than adults.
