why are people these day have such strong prejudice?

my nickname is "cool nerd." but sometimes, i get these extreme answers that contains very discriminatory comments. some said "stfu" or "f-word nerd" or "how can nerds be cool?"

if i changed the picture and name, i get a totally different response! why do people make such malevolent connections in their heads before seeing the truth?

Apparently, you're not old enough to have seen prejudice in must greater extreme. "These days" are pretty tolerant compared to the 60's and earlier.

There's always been prejudice, there always will be. Some people just need someone else to hate in order to boost their own self importance, others hate what they don't understand .. there are thousands of reasons.

In general, people are more tolerant now than ever before in history.

And .... let them hate nerds all they want. Being a nerd usually means you're booksmart, or tech smart .... look at Bill Gates' bank balance. I doubt he's complaining about being called a nerd :)

Well, I've been alive a pretty long time now - and I don't really see that's it's any different now than 50 years ago... I notice today there are just so many things to be PC about - my god what a mess.

People just make assumptions because all they know of you is what they see on the computer.

there is a disconnect on the internet, this is just a screen to them so they are more inclined to express their true feelings

because they don't know you and they're anonymous. People feel free to be complete bst@rds when they know that you don't know who they are.
