it is a deviant manifestation of love. Jealousy is a form of love albeit a harmful and dangerous kind if not controlled properly, but it can also be useful as long as the person can distinguish when enough is enough and not let the jealous tendencies we all have take control.

envy....jealousy, and envy are both fears.

At least for relationships the definition seems to be like this. There are other uses of the word.

Jealousy is considered as the thoughts and feelings that arise when an actual or desired relationship is threatened, basically a fear of losing love to a third person.

Envy has the thoughts and feelings that arise when our personal relationships do not measure up to a competitor or someone that is relevant to us. Basically, a fear that if dont have something, I wont measure up. Covetous...not content or secure with what one has.

Both stem from insecurity.
one is a fear of loss.
the other is the fear of not gaining

however the results of the fear can produce horrible consequences.

the whole love/hate paradigm. if you cannot love someone, then it is easy to hate them, because they wont love you in return. i think its possible to love and hate at the same time.

look at divorce, it is amazing how quickly one can go from powerful positive feelings of love, to a great sense of disdain for the other person, because of a sense that one has lost that love. if the love was unconditional and pure, there wouldnt be this flip-flop of emotions.

Jealousy mostly resembles hate, as it is wanting something for yourself and NOT the other. Envy is just wanting it in general.

I think that wanting someone to lose something and for you to gain it, especially because jealousy is never something you normally can be fond of, resembles hate more than anything else. Another cool debate might be envy and love.

No, jealousy is one of the quickest ways to kill love. If you can't trust the one you love, then why bother?

I don't know what emotion it resembles, but it is definitely a sign of either insecurity or guilt.

No, it's not.

It is the negative aspects of love. The fear and insecurity of losing something precious to you, or that you value.
