I know you can flp a regular mattress to remove any sagging but my pillowtop has a normal mattress bottom possibly stiffer than normal and definitely stiffer than the pillowtop on the opposite side. I have rotated it already in the past but never flipped it. Ideas?

It does not have a pillowtop on both sides though.

You should not flip it. The pillow top is exactly that. You can rotate it, but flipping it will cause problems with the pillow top cushion.

Indentations or "body impressions" as they are referred to in the industry are common on any mattresses, they are a result of the padding layers (on average be anywhere from 2-8 padding layers in you mattress) breaking in. You'll generally see more indentations on beds with more padding, like plush models and pillowtops. Severe sagging, however, is not normal and may be covered under your warranty. Depending on which brand you bought and the quality of bed you purchased, your mattress could have a warranty anywhere from a 1 yr pro-rated warranty up to a full 10 yr non-pro rated warranty in which the bed is fully covered for defects by the manafacturer. You'll find the big name brands, like Sealy, Simmons, Serta, etc., will have better warranties and they consider any impressioning over 2 1/2 inches a defect. Within the last five years or so, Sealy and Simmons (I can't vouch for Serta) have changed their warranties to cover any impressioning past 1 1/2 inches of body impressioning. (They are also other conditions with their warranties, namely you must have the proper support with the mattress...e.g., a matching boxspring, your bed frame must be supportive enough, and you cannot have any stains or soils on your mattress.) So you may want to check with the retailer you bought the bed from and see if your mattress might be covered under warranty, if the impressions on your bed are deep enough. For people who have no such warranty coverage, I recommend try spinning the mattress from head to toe and try sleeping in the middle of the bed to even out the sleeping surface of the mattress. Other than that, there's not much you can do to fluff the bed back into shape.

The one I have you can. It has one side for winter and the other for summer. Instead of flipping it regularly, the manufacturer suggest you rotate it once a month.

We have one too and i believe they told us just to rotate it - that it didn't need to be flipped. Apparently they designed it structurally so it wouldn't need a flip. It feels weird never having flipped it, though.
