Keep in mind that VERY FEW people who major in Poly Sci actually work as politicians. A degree in poly sci is a lot like a history degree -- it'll be a good blank canvas on which to build a good Masters degree, but besides that, will only make your hireable for entry level positions unless you're, say, an excellent writer -- in which case you could possibly get a job as a speech writer.
I got an English degree, and a lot of my friends got history degrees, poly sci degrees, sociology degrees, etc...And very few of us ended up working in the field that a particular degree would be assumed to prepare someone for. My friend with a poly sci degree works at a publishing house as a customer service rep. I work as a writer. My friend w/the sociology degree works for a surveying company. etc.
So...If you like talking about politics, then you're certainly in the right field! Just like an English degree is good for someone who likes talking about books :)
Most politicians who have degrees are politicians because of their life experience and charisma, not because of their education.

in case you truly do not pick to bypass further with a occupation in it, i'd recommend you now to not learn that. imagine about what kind of occupation you pick and do not lay our a fortune on preparation till you've a truthful idea. you want writing, have you ever seen some kind of journalism occupation? Seconding MTR on the Philosophy direction idea.

Not until you actually go into politics. I know a few poly sci grads who went into other related fields. Military, intelligence, police the big question is "What do you want to be when you grow up"

No,
I don't particularly like polotics, but thta actually is a good major. Consider, who is running our country? POLOTICIANS.
So with that being said, go get your major, and then you can talk circles around those idiots.
Just not me, polotics gives me headaches.
