I ran my anti-spyware and anti-virus programs, but they both came up with nothing. I'm not really sure what to do next besides take my comptuer to a specialist (which will take a lot of time and money) or just re-format my hard drive, which would make me lose a lot of my programs.

Depends on how you access the internet.

If by wireless, check to ensure that your wireless card is still picking up a wireless signal, that the connection is still being made...etc.

If by network port, check that your computer is not unplugged, and that your network port is still working, and that your connection is being made.

Also, might you possibly be running a firewall in which you turned off network access?

Lastly, you did try simply rebooting, right?

Have you checked your security settings? It's just possible they are set too high. Additionally, many sites require you to accept cookies before they will let you enter.

Check out, carefully, the Security, Privacy and Content tabs.

Did you try scanning in Safe Mode? If not, try that. Are you getting any errors? You could try reinstalling your browser or installing a different browser (FireFox if you don't already).

If you use the router, reset and restart the router. I had the problem when I switch to use VOIP to share with my router.
