My husband and I just used geometry the other day to estimate how much tile to buy for our 2 bathrooms. Our bathrooms have a lot of irregular spaces, so we had to measure the entire perimeter of each bathroom. We then split the bathrooms into different geometric shapes to find the area. We had to work our formulas for several squares, rectangles, and triangles. Then we added them all together to come up with the square footage. After that, we had to estimate how many 12 inch by 12 inch tiles we needed. It was pretty tricky, but my husband is a math whiz, so it's easy for him. He's an engineer, go figure...

Have a look at the Vetruvius Man. It will describe the geometry of the human body and the ratios of its parts. Architecture throughout the ages has been based on this geometry.

my mans a welder/boilermaker in the making, and at work he had to figure out where to weld these cornery thingys on a large steel pipe. there were four of them and he had to put them equally around the pipe, and he only knew the diameter, so he had to work out the circumference first, then divide it into eight (they wanted them an eighth away from the top/bottom) then hes gone and taken that measurement and hes placing them on the pipe today.
also have a look around you. everything that is made has some sort of geometry about it, and whoever designed them needed to know it (or nothing would ever fit together)

what if you decide to paint some rooms in your house......you need to know how much paint to buy (do you need to buy a whole gallon OR maybe just 2 quarts, so you don't pay extra for leftover paint)......
you can use geometry to figure out the square footage of the coverage area, read the cans of paint at the store to see how much they cover and you'll know then how much to buy....without geometry and you buy 2 quarts....and it's not enough, you then need to go back and get a 3rd quart and now you have spent more than if you bought a whole gallon in the first place....
OR you buy a whole gallon, when only 2 quarts would have sufficed and saved you money.

Playing pool - a good player who can bank a ball is figuring out at what angle the ball must come off the bank in order to go into the pocket. That's why you don't stand in the same place to hit the ball each time - you are figuring out the angle.

doing a three-point turn in a car. are you going to have enough room to do it? how much room will you need?
say you're moving into an apartment, and you have to carry your mattress up a flight of stairs. how do you know the best way to make it fit?

TRIANGLE IS THE MOST RIGID SHAPE
try connecting 3 strips of cardboard into a triangle using pins
now try with 4 or 5 strips forming a quadrilateral and a pentagon respectively.
the quad and pent will change shape but triangle wont.
hence TRIANGLES ARE THE BASIC SHAPE OF THE COMPONENTS OF MOST BRIDGES.
