I'm sure there are some good ones. I have a sis in the fashion industry in NYC. What she recommended was that you actually go a somewhat indirect route, contacting the agencies the schools feed into. So, contact Elite or Ford (both reputable modeling agencies), for example, and ask them what schools they recommend. Also try contacting Vogue. They're all snobs, but be friendly and persistent. Often, you can skip "modeling" school. Dancing and acting training at good studios, for I'd say at least three or four semester-long classes, and a good photographer for a portfolio, can substitute.

No. Modeling schools are basically a training course in presentation. If you are interested in modeling I suggest making an appointment with a reputable agency such as Ford Modeling in NYC. Most major metropolitan areas have reputable ones. You will know if they are a scam if they make you pay out of pocket for a portfolio.

no. modeling schools are a rip off. the only way to really learn is through experience. set up proflies on modeling/photography websites. people will contact you for shoots. if not, build up a portfolio by paying photographers to take pictures of you, and start banging on doors at agencies.
