What kind of stains? "The Works" (even Knock-offs) works like a miracle on calcium, lime and Rust stains.(but..get the Toilet one it's thicker and better) Bleach and Baking soda and elbow grease on the rest!
Also those "Magic Erasers" Really do work on almost anything (even teeth) with just a bit of rubbing, like you were using an eraser!!

Apply something like Soft Scrub first and while that is still wet, very very very carefully and lightly rub with a pumice stone. Do a test area first!! Put as little pressure on the stone as possible. You will probably have to do it several times so that you don't destroy the sink. I have taken rust stains out this way and it works well -- it's just time consuming.

Try using The Works toilet bowl cleaner. Wet your sink, squirt some of the cleaner on the stain and rub gently with a nylon net sponge. Don't let it dry on and rinse the area well. Use gloves as it's a BIG skin irritant. If the enamel is worn off of your sink nothing much will work for you. Good luck!

Dawn makes this stuff in a spray bottle, can't think of what the name of it is Dawn..., but it is located right near the dawn dish soap and it works wonders on everything. Even took out a Koolaid stain I had on my counter top

If it is on a flat surface use hydrogen peroxide and let soak. Vertical surfaces try oxy-clean. make a paste and let set. May take multiple applications
