Why do people say that when you are drunk,,you see and talk the truth?

like in Mel Gibsons case, I like to see if that belief will have any merit at a rehab facility, any alcoholic or adiiction specialist will tell you that if anything alcohol clouds judgement and confuses the emotions, like when people have one night stands with people they don't even like

The liberals and the minorities are always looking for racism ,, so they can say see,,whitey is still an oppressive devil,,like Al sharpton as if moinorities where any be, Cosmo Kramer is not a racist either

Funny, but when you started typing you actually almost made sense. By your fourth drink, however, the end of your question just became a bunch of stuttering confusion. I guess it's true - alcohol just clouds the mind...such a shame to waste what was once a beautiful thing. Sorry about your luck!

When U are drunk your brain is intoxicated with alcohol, so it can't make the usual right connections. For example: when u are sober u say u don't have a gf(That being a lie). If u get drunk u will admit that u have a gf, because your brain doesn't recognize this fact as something to be hidden, the BRAIN gives the "All Clear" command and there is little thing u can do about it. It takes a very powerful mind and a lot of exercise to be able to still lie under the influence of alcohol! But if u manage to do this, U'll be a master in manipulation! Believe me, I know!

When anyone drinks there is a neurological and psychological regression, and the higher the blood alcohol level, the more primitive and hostile the response that comes out,in other words liquer slows down and scrambles our brain signals to such an extent that we have
a more honest opinion about everything.
In Mel's case or life in general we have to see whether the thoughts influence the deed.If you become Nazi after drinking but are perfect gentleman while sober than what are you really?...is debatable.

What exactly does liberalism and minorites have to do with drinking alcohol? I can imagine there are people who can lie even on alcohol but for the majority of human beings alcohol makes you speak the truth. Once you are smashed drunk you no longer care what people think, your true personality shines through. Gibson and Kramer would not spew such things from their mouths if they had never thought of it in the first place.

I'm not sure that a state of inebriation helps you SEE the truth - I think it's actually more likely to cloud your perception of reality than to clarify it.

Being drunk does remove inhibitions and blurs the sense of propriety that usually keeps us from doing or saying inappropriate things, so, someone under the influence might simply blurt out what's on their mind at the moment, or what their impaired judgement tells them will have the most shock value.
Whether it's always the actual truth, is debatable, IMO.

You said it yourself alcohol clouds judgement so sometimes the true way you feel comes out because you dont care how the person you are telling this truth to feels. It doesnt mean everything that someone says when drunk is the truth but I think that sometimes drunk people do open up and say things that are truthful that they would not say when sober. Alcohol lowers inhibitions people find it easier to say what they feel when drunk because they are not worried about what the other person might think or feel. Also sometimes people find it hard to swallow their pride and say sorry to someone they hurt but when the become drunk its easier for them because its what they really feel.

the idea is that your inhibitions are down and all the wall come down so you speak more closely to what you mean ..

I have seen many drunks, being in bartending and if they tell the truth, we have lots of millionaires, that are well hung, and are single.
Drunks lie, plain and simple, they think they are 10' tall and bullet proof.

When your drunk or close to it, you let your guard down and say, do things that you were afriad to do sober. (Kramer is a big racist) He's just not enough of a real man to admit it.
